Project governance
Engagement Overlay to the RIBA Plan of Work, published by the RIBA in January 2024, suggests that project governance: ‘Defines how decisions are made, by whom, and how they are funded. It can be a framework of policies, processes, and procedures that define how a project will be managed and controlled. It includes the roles and responsibilities of the project team and stakeholders, decision-making processes, and performance monitoring and reporting. Effective project governance ensures that projects align with the brief, are delivered on time and within budget, and meet stakeholders’ expectations. It also helps mitigate risks and ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.’
